A radar level meter is a device used to measure the precise position of a liquid or solid in a container. It uses radar technology to send and receive radio waves to determine the distance between the liquid or solid surface and the sensor. Here are some key features and working principles of radar level meters:

Working principle: The radar level meter sends high-frequency radio waves (usually microwaves or light waves) to the surface of a liquid or solid, and then receives the signal reflected back from the surface. By measuring the time difference between the sent and received signals, the height of the liquid level or the height of the solid can be calculated.

 

The GRD60 series sensor is a radar-type level measuring instrument with an upper limit of measuring distance of 30 meters. It can be used for level measurement in storage tanks, intermediate buffer tanks or process vessels, and outputs 4~20mA analog signals. Very short microwave pulses of very low energy are transmitted and received via an antenna system. Radar waves travel at the speed of light. The operating time can be converted into a level signal via electronics. A special time extension method ensures stable and accurate measurements over extremely short periods of time. Even if the working conditions are relatively complex and there are false echoes, microprocessing technology and debugging software can be used to accurately analyze the echo of the material level.

 

working principle

 

The antenna receives the reflected microwave pulse and transmits it to the electronic circuit. The microprocessor processes the signal and identifies the echo generated by the micro-pulse on the surface of the material. Correct echo signal identification is completed by pulse software, and the accuracy can reach millimeter level. The distance D from the material surface is proportional to the pulse time T:
D=C×T/2 where C is the speed of light. Since the distance E of the empty tank is known, the level L is: L=E-D
Set by inputting the empty tank height E (= zero point), the full tank height F (= full scale) and some application parameters. The application parameters will automatically adapt the instrument to the measurement environment. Corresponds to 4~20mA output.
